Q:

What is Online Bill Pay and how does it work?

A:

This is currently one of the most popular features of Internet Banking. Once you try it, you'll never want to mail your bills again! Online bill pay is just that – the ability to pay anything (or anyone) that you have had to write a check for in the past -- online over the Internet within the same secure environment. No checks to write, no postage or envelopes to buy. Just a few simple clicks on your computer and your bills are paid!

Q:

Sounds great! How do I get started?

A:

Once you have enrolled in MNB’s online banking for business, you will need to request the enrollment information for CheckFree WebPay for Businesses. (Only someone who is a signer on all applicable accounts for the business may request the information or enroll for this service.)

What next?

A:

Once you have notified us that you wish to add the optional BillPay feature, you will be informed when your access to the Bill Payment site has been activated. Simply read the Terms and Conditions of the CheckFree BillPay service, and complete the required enrollment information. You will designate Authorized users and one account to be the primary source for your payments.

Q:

What do I need to do in order to pay my bills?

A:

When you are ready to begin, allow yourself some time initially to set up your bill accounts online. Be prepared with your regular paper bills, or have the name, exact mailing address, and account number for each bill. You will set up each biller's account separately by choosing “Add a Bill.” It is possible to pay your bills (i.e./Quick Add) without the account numbers, but it is not recommended. Enter the information carefully so that your bills may be paid accurately.

Q:

Once I'm set up for Bill Pay, how will it actually work?

A:

When you are ready to pay bills, all you need to do is enter the CheckFree WebPay site by choosing the “Bill Payment” tab. The site will open on the “ Payment Center ” page which serves as a “Home Page” for the service. To pay a bill, simply enter a dollar amount and choose a due date for the bill(s) that you want to pay. When you have made the desired entries, scroll down and click on “Send Payments.” This will take you to a confirmation page where you will be able to either confirm the payment or have the chance to modify it. Once confirmed, you will have the option to cancel any payment as long as the word “ Cancel ” appears next to the Biller's name in the Pending Payments section of the Payment Center.

Q:

What if I have recurring monthly payments?

A:

It is easy to schedule recurring payments to be paid on time, every time, as long as the funds are available in your account.

Q:

How will I know that my bills are paid on time?

A:

Initially, it is wise to schedule payments at least four business days prior to the actual bill due date. Your Biller will be paid in one of three ways: an Electronic Payment that is directly debited from your account on the due date that you chose, a CheckFree Corporate Check which is mailed and also causes the paid amount to be debited on the due date that you have selected, or a Paper Laser Draft that is drawn on your account, mailed, and processed back through your account just as your personal paper check would be. Note: Whether the payment is electronic or sent by mail, your billers may not always process credits on the same day that your payment is received. For that reason, it is highly recommended that you always allow extra time for processing so that payments will not be late in posting to your accounts.

Q:

What determines whether my Billers will be paid electronically or by check or laser draft?

A:

Whenever it is possible, payments will be made electronically. However, there are some payees (billers) that cannot accept electronic funds, and a paper item will have to be mailed. The decision is ultimately made by the CheckFree administrative system. The system allows for only three days mailing time, so it is particularly important to pay attention to what form of payment is used in order to accurately determine future “due dates.” For instance, if your propane Biller does not accept electronic funds and your bill is late after the 1st of the month, allow a few extra days and put a little earlier due date (i.e./ the 29th) into the CheckFree system to allow for mailing and processing time.

Q:

How will I know when money for my payment will be withdrawn from my account?

A:

For bill payments that are sent electronically or via CheckFree Corporate Check, the funds for the payment will clear your account on the date that you scheduled as the payment due date. Payments that are made by Paper Laser Draft will clear your account when the payee (biller) cashes or deposits the check and it comes back through your account. You should always be sure that you have funds available to cover your payments by your scheduled payment dates.

Q:

I'm not very proficient on a PC. How complicated is Internet Banking?

A:

You don’t have to be a computer guru to use MNB’s Internet banking service. Once your agreement has been submitted and your enrollment has been processed, you will be notified by email. Simply go to the Internet, type in our web address: www.mountainnationalbank.com , and look for the log-in icons and chose either “Access My Basic Business Account” or “Access Corporate Cash Management”. Once you have logged in with your User ID and Password, you will find the site to be user-friendly and easy to navigate.

Q:

Is special software required, and if so, how hard or expensive is it to acquire?

A:

If your computer is equipped with an Internet Browser (like Explorer or Netscape) with 128-bit encryption you should have no problem accessing our secure site. Occasionally you may need the Adobe Acrobat Reader program in order to read some information from us, including disclosures that we provide or account alerts that you may request. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, a link will be available, and you may download a free copy.

Q:

Once I have logged in to MNB's Online Banking site, why do I have to log in again for BillPay?

A:

Many of our business customers may wish to have employees handle some of their bill paying needs. Having a separate login enables you as the business owner or manager to have complete control over the BillPay program, while limiting the authority of employees to protect your private account information

Is internet Banking safe?

A:

This is our assurance to you: When you access our Online Banking system either to provide information to us or to access your account information, you have entered a secure area. Here are just a few of the safeguards we have in place in order to help ensure the security of your private information while online:

Advanced Authentication – Before you can access the Online Banking system, you will log in using our enhanced multi-layered security process. The secure system will use your unique User ID to validate your computer and will link you to your personalized login page. This new authentication method allows you to be sure that the site you have entered is our legitimate site before you even enter your password. In addition it also allows the Internet Banking security system to authenticate your computer in order to ensure that the sign-in is not a fraudulent attempt to access your account information. Security verification questions will be used if the system does not recognize your computer. This will enable you to use any computer anywhere and know that you are logging in safely.

Encryption Software – In addition to the firewalls, you are further protected by our “cryptographic software” which scrambles messages between your computer and the MNB Internet Banking Server into a secret coded language. Your computer can only access the secure site to translate an encrypted file with your User ID and password.

Automatic Security Time-Out – To prevent unauthorized viewing of your account information or the completion of erroneous transactions, your online banking session will be automatically discontinued after 15 minutes of inactivity, requiring you to log in again.

Intrusion protection – In order to protect your accounts from potential vulnerabilities, our system is designed to “lock out” any user after a very limited number of invalid password attempts. Both the User ID and password must be correct in order for anyone to gain access. It is wise to choose passwords carefully so that they could not easily be guessed and to keep them very secure.

Firewall Barriers – Our Secure Bank Servers are not directly accessible on the Internet. Access to your accounts is provided through an intermediary Internet Banking Server that is protected with a Firewall System designed to prevent unauthorized access. These firewalls permit access only to authorized users via Personal User ID and Password combinations. They have built-in filters that block unauthorized or potentially dangerous intrusions.

Password Security – As an extra measure of security, no record of your passwords are recorded by any bank employee, associate, or stored in any software.
